Babywearing
Research shows that babies who are worn are happier, cry 43% less, are more calm and content
due to reduced levels of stress, fall asleep easier and sleep longer. This is because babies
feel most secure when held close to their mama and papa. Babywearing helps mimic the warm and
secure womb-like feeling that newborns love so much. The closeness acts as a transition from
the womb to the world.
"The womb lasts eighteen months: nine months inside the mother, and nine months outside." – Dr. William Sears
Babywearing is a core concept of attachment parenting as it promotes bonding between babe
and parents. It builds trust with your babe and lets them know that you are their to meet all of
their needs. Babywearing also frees your hands which makes it easier to care for other children,
do things around the house, and promotes breastfeeding - by having constant access and allowing
you to breastfeed on cue. Everyone can wear babe - mama, papa, sister, brother, grandparents,
sitters and even day care workers. The more a babe is worn, the happier they are!
